Challenge
The societal challenges that Kazi Yetu addresses are the issues of food security, income stability, women empowerment, youth engagement, and environmental consciousness through the lens of energy access and operational efficiency in local value addition for agriculture. For WE4F in particular, the work focuses primarily on ‘energy-efficient agricultural processing’, and secondarily ‘Energy-Efficient Farm Production’. Kazi Yetu’s beneficiaries on the supply side are more than 2,500 farmers, who practice sustainable and regenerative organic agriculture.
Solution
The project supported by WE4F in particular, focuses primarily on ‘energy-efficient agricultural processing’, and secondarily ‘Energy-Efficient Farm Production’. Kazi Yetu’s beneficiaries on the supply side are more than 2,500 small scale farmers across in Tanzania, practicing organic and regenerative agriculture, and provides them with a premium market link for high quality end products, and fair prices to all segments of the supply chain.
Kazi Yetu’s vision is to grow into a centre for learning and transforming the processing and value-addition landscape in Tanzania; to integrate renewable energy into their operations at every level, from farm to factory; as well as to provide capacity building for their employees and farmer networks.
