Challenges
In the coming decade, Africa faces two significant challenges: producing nutrient-rich food for the growing population and managing the environmental pressures resulting from current agriculture and food systems. We believe that insects are an innovative solution to close these gaps within food systems.
Solutions
InsectiPro rears insects and develops insect-based food, feed, and fertilizer products for communities, improving food security while bringing positive environmental, impact and nutritional benefits to Africa’s food systems. InsectiPro creates low-cost, circular, sustainable, and nutritious food chains using black soldier flies (BSF), and crickets. The BSF upcycles organic waste that would otherwise go into landfills producing high-quality proteins for animal feeds (BSF larvae), and organic fertilizer (frass). The crickets are a locally produced, highly nutritious solution to increased protein demand for human nutrition.
