Challenges
Most districts in the rural communities of Zimbabwe rely on river water for sustenance, while others have a community well that they have to travel at least 5 kilometers to get to. The women often have to carry 25 litre buckets on their heads from the water sources to their homes for cooking, drinking, cleaning and laundry. Because the process of getting water is arduous, many often rely on rainfall for agriculture. With the constantly changing rainy season, many crops dry up as the anticipated rainy season begins. Most people in the rural communities are low-income earners, so they cannot afford to purchase solar systems or petrol/diesel generators.
