Challenges

Farmers in Nigeria experience drastic post-harvest losses on their harvested agricultural products, particularly on fresh products such as fruits, vegetables, etc. These smallholder farmers lose over 50% of their harvested agricultural products annually because of the absence of adequate storage infrastructure or a proper and efficient agro-processing industry. OGV’s solution is to reduce or eliminate post-harvest losses for crop farmers.

Solutions

OGV designs and constructs small, medium, and large solar dryers for farms, aggregators, and retailers. They also provide solar drying services in rural areas for farmers and aggregators who cannot afford to buy their own dryers. Farmers can bring in their harvested perishable vegetable products and have it processed and dried at an affordable rate. In addition to the dryers, OGV also offers solar-dried prepackaged perishable vegetable products like tomatoes, peppers, and onion powder and flakes in 50-100 g reusable packs.
