Challenges
Côte d’Ivoire remains an agricultural country, with the sector contributing 20% of gross domestic product. It is a world leader in the global value chains of cocoa, cashew nuts, palm oil, and several other agricultural products. The agricultural sector generates between 20 and 30 million tons of agricultural waste each year, which does not yet contribute to the local economy.
Solutions
LONO popularises local technologies that allow raw waste material to be transformed directly on-site into energy products and organic fertilizer. The Ivorian innovator is an engineering enterprise offering services and products to help farmers and businesses get the most out of their organic waste. One of the proposed flagship products is the KubeKo Biogaz, a mobile biodigester that transforms all types of organic waste into cooking gas and liquid compost. As an example: 5 kg of waste per day provides 2 hours of cooking and 50 liters of liquid compost.
