Challenges

Climate change resulting in drought has heavily affected the output from farms. The use of synthetic and chemical inputs such as chemical fertilizers and chemical pesticides further degrades the soils by killing important microbes which destabilizes the ecosystem and depletes the soil‘s ability to hold water. Additionally, it is difficult for farmers to get high-quality organic inputs at affordable prices which would enable them to increase the yield from their crops while conserving the environment. The reduction in the reliance on synthetic chemical inputs and increased access to affordable organic inputs will also foster easier access to affordable nutrient-rich food for communities.

Solutions

BIOPROTECT seeks to provide affordable organic inputs such as biofertilizers and biopesticides to all stakeholders in the rural areas. Biological inputs protect and conserve water resources, reduce groundwater pollution and protect the health of populations. The company’s enriched compost contains microorganisms such as trichoderma which make mineral elements available for crops and prevent pests and diseases in the plants while increasing the humus in the soil. BIOPROTECT biopesticides protect plants form fungal and aerial soil diseases and make it possible to conserve agroforestry and soil microorganisms essential for the fight against drought. The company’s innovative products are:

Vitasol: fertilizes and protects the plant against fungal soil diseases,

Vita plant: fertilizes and protects the plant against aerial soil diseases

Vita fruit: fertilizes and protects the plant against insects with shells and soft bodies and Piol, neem oil and powder which fights against insects
