Challenges
Unprecedented floods in recent years have destructed crops in Chad, resulting in the deterioration of the food and nutritional situation in vulnerable communities in the southern provinces of Chad.
Solutions
The Vital Fish project mainly produces fish meal and fish oil, which are by-products derived from fish, to strengthen food and nutrition security. They work with local communities to fish sustainably and buy fish from smallholder farmers that rely on fishing as an alternative means of production in the dry season. The project will be managed by the ZONAL’s women team with the participation of women’s farmers’ organizations.
