Challenges
Dairy cooperatives’ communal milk collection centers in off-grid areas face energy scarcity which can lead to losses and negatively impact incomes.
Solutions
Biogas can be produced from the dairy waste which is abundant in the targeted locations. The biogas will be used directly to reduce the communal milk collection centers’ dependence on conventional energy sources. A significant number of the members of the communal milk collection centers are women. The innovation will help them save on time they spent looking for firewood and other energy sources to operate the communal milk collection centers.
