Faced with the scourge of climate change and a warming globe, farmers who used to live exclusively on rain-fed agriculture are being forced to turn to alternative irrigation to ensure their productivity. Green Agro Valley aims at supporting smallholder farmers and producers by giving them access to low-cost irrigation systems.
Solutions
Through Green Agro Valley’s innovative irrigation system, the laser spray, smallholders are able to grow fruit and vegetables more sustainably. Only the required amount of water is sprayed on the plant roots, saving the amount of water necessary for irrigation. This is particularly beneficial when the plant roots are just under the surface and not deep in the ground.
Green Agro Valley makes the acquisition of such an irrigation system more affordable to the base of the pyramid by responding to the need of:
