As middle management within SunCulture is built by direct managers of on-the-ground execution, these managers occupy a unique and disproportionately impactful position in terms of immediate execution improvement and need to be supported with gender-inclusive learning and development so they can not only grow and evolve themselves but elevate their teams. From this, it arises SunCulture’s goal to prepare their managers with the necessary skills for bigger and brighter challenges as well as to encourage mobility, inclusion and growth with important effects on their business.

SunCulture is a climate-tech platform for emerging markets distributing solar water pumps and bringing affordable and renewable energy to smallholder farmers to improve productivity, enhance resilience, and reduce emissions. One of SunCulture’s biggest challenges has been improving its middle management’s skill set. Their WE4F supported project “SunCulture Middle Management Learning and Development” is a Technical Assistance project with an aim to develop the self and commercial leadership capacity of middle managers, who will need to take up increasingly strategic positions as SunCulture gears up for a Series B raise in 2022. This project will ensure SunCulture is supporting a new wave of successful middle managers, especially women managers. This is a learning and development engagement focused on leadership skills through an inclusion and diversity lens. SunCulture is committed to supporting all middle managers to ensure that their managers are leading well, and that gender equity is embedded. The improved performance of their middle management team will also have a positive impact on the overall operations of the business (e.g. sales, R&D, finance, supply chain).
